The first year of your extended course is a foundation year, designed to prepare you for degree-level study. The foundation year offers the support and teaching you need to excel, such as small class sizes, 12 contact hours per week and continual feedback to keep you on the right track.
The course modules are a combination of subject-focused topics relevant to your chosen ExploreX degree and a literacy module that develops the skills and capabilities you will need throughout your degree studies.

Our BSc (Hons) Business and Management course provides you with both the underpinning knowledge and the intellectual and transferable skills you will need for a wide range of business and management careers. It also prepares you for further study, if that's where your interests lie.
Starting in Year 2 and continuing throughout the course, we focus on building a wide portfolio of interpersonal abilities such as effective listening, negotiating, persuasion and presentation, alongside team building skills.
You will also have the opportunity to present work individually and in groups in various formats and to a variety of audiences.
Throughout the course, classroom learning is supplemented by a range of support materials which you can access through our online learning management system.

In Year 3 you'll have the opportunity to work in a team and solve business problems, applying theoretical concepts to practice in the professional environment.
You'll also experience hands-on learning as we bring the workplace to the classroom, allowing you to learn from industry professionals and discover the trials and tribulations of the professional business environment.
There's a range of optional modules on offer this year, allowing you to explore subjects including marketing, consumer behaviour, and prototyping.
You'll also study one of our Ruskin Modules, which give you the opportunity to work with students from different courses to come up with creative solutions to complex problems and key challenges facing society.

In the final year of your Business and Management degree, you'll engage in a substantial piece of research and/or product development work, the Undergraduate Major Project. You can use this project to explore a business or management topic that is of particular interest to you.
Alongside a number of core modules on subjects such as strategic management and sustainability, there's a range of optional modules, too. Explore subjects including entrepreneurship and employment law.

Assessment Methods
All assessments are designed to allow you to demonstrate your learning, and to make sure you're developing the abilities and skills you need to complete the course. We'll assess your knowledge and understanding using a variety of assessment methods, including business plans, marketing evaluations and reflective reports.
Entry Requirements
Standard Entry Requirements:
5 GCSEs at grade D, or grade 3, or above including English and maths and evidence of two years post-GCSE study at Level 3. If you have achieved at least grade E in one A level, or equivalent, you are exempt from the two year post-GCSE study requirement, but you still have to meet the GCSE requirements.
English Language Requirements:
If English is not your first language you will be expected to demonstrate a certificated level of proficiency of at least IELTS 5.5 (Academic level) or equivalent English Language qualification.
Fees and Paying for University
If you're a UK student, you don't need the money to pay for university now.
You can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan to cover your course fees.

International students can pay fees upfront or in instalments.
We require a deposit of £4,000 or a sponsorship letter.

Student Finance Information
UK students can apply for both a Tuition Fee Loan and a Maintenance Loan to help with living costs. The amount you can borrow depends on your household income and where you choose to live while studying.
Example repayment for Plan 5 loan: If you earn £25,500, you'll repay £45 a year (£3.75/month) - that's 9% of £500 (the amount over £25,000 threshold).
